Transparency…for everyone else

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 by Dan Riggsby

obama_smokingBarack Obama ordered the Federal Government to rethink how it protects secrets and is expected to declassify 400 million pages of cold war documents. According to the AP, Obama says that he expects that the order will produce “measurable progress” toward greater openness in government while also protecting the nation’s most important secrets.

So, he wants greater openness in government, so long as it isn’t about his background? I’m going to be honest, I think he’s a citizen. I don’t think he got a scholarship for foreign nationals. But wouldn’t it be nice if he released his documents from College? What did he do there that he is so afraid of having people see? Probably nothing. He probably just doesn’t want people to see what a complete loser he was in College. Maybe he’s afraid that people will scrutinize his grades and call him an idiot like they did Bush.

There are countless possibilities for why he doesn’t want the American People to look at the records about his life. However, withholding them while demanding that we declassify our entire security operation during the cold war is just hypocritical. But then, when has this President ever seen himself as anything but better than the American People?

Even Harry Potter knew better

Monday, December 28th, 2009 by Dan Riggsby

HarryPotterI read the transcript of Barack Obama’s speech about the attempted terrorist attack on the flight to Detroit. I was completely amazed at how hard he worked to not say the words Islamic extremist. In fact, the only time he used the word Islamic or any variation of the word, was when referencing Iran as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I thought of Harry Potter and how people wouldn’t say Voldemort’s name. It seems like a similar thing here. It’s like pretending that these aren’t Islamic Extremists will make them not want to blow us up. The sad thing is that this is the course of action of the Commander-in-Chief of the United States Military!

.

Wow! How great is it to have a coward leading our military. Next, he’s going to do away with tanks, because our enemies might see them as intimidating.  Why not, he’s already started with nukes.

Christmas Message from The Riggsby Report

May God's Blessing shine upon you all

May God's Blessing shine upon you all

As this is a political talk show and blog I would like to say that the Democrats have used the distraction of the season to pass horrific legislation.

We can attack this next week. It’s not going anywhere. Today, let us put the politics aside and celebrate the birth of Christ. I know that not all of our listeners/readers are Christian. For those who are not, please take the time to stop and appreciate the celebrations of the Holiday Season. We can wade back into the fray next week.

From all of us at The Riggsby Report, may you have a very blessed Christmas or the Happiest of Holidays. May the new year bring health and prosperity to you, your family, and our beloved nation. May the Grace of the Lord shine upon you all.

Merry Christmas BB&T

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009 by Dan Riggsby

I would like to thank BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust) for their Christmas Spirit. You see on December 22nd , 3 days before Christmas, as I prepared to go to the store to get the things I needed to prepare Christmas dinner for my friends and family, I discovered my account to be severely in the negative. It seems that there had been a mistake made by my car company and they had submitted my car payment even though they were not supposed to submit it this month. As I called to ask what happened, BB&T explained that as a “favor” to me, they paid the car payment (instead of “bouncing” it) and proceeded to charge me overdraft fees for the 10 check card purchases I had made instead.

So, they could have refused the car payment and charged me a $35 fee or they could pay the car payment as a favor to me and collect $350 in fees. Wow, what would I do without favors like that. Merry Christmas BB&T!
