Dan’s Favorite Books

All-Time Favorites

To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Perennial Modern Classics) – Harper Lee

This is one of the greatest books ever! One of my dreams came true when I had the honor to perform this work on stage in 2007.

Fahrenheit 451-Ray Bradbury

Read this book and tell me he couldn’t see the future. This is a must read for everyone!

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe (Ballantine Reader’s Circle)-Fannie Flagg

This is just good storytelling. Watching The Match Game as a kid, I would never have guessed that she would be one of my favorite authors.

The Mists of Avalon- Marion Zimmer Bradley

This is the best telling of the Legend of King Arthur I’ve ever read! (If you saw the mini-series a few years back, forget it. Read the book)

Night Passage (Jesse Stone Novels)-Robert B. Parker

This is not necessarily my favorite, but the first in a fantastic series!
The Godwulf Manuscript -Robert B. Parker

Again, not my favorite, but this is the book series that the Television Show Spencer: For Hire was based upon. I have read them all and they are great!

John Adams- David McCullough

This is a biography that reads like a novel. David McCullough is a gifted writer. The HBO mini-series is wonderful also.

Current Favorites

Do the Right Thing: Inside the Movement That’s Bringing Common Sense Back to America- Mike Huckabee

If you read any of his books, you will understand why I think he should be the next President.

Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can Do About It-Star Parker

This is great insight into the African American struggle without the liberal blindfold. Hopefully one day she’ll be on the show.
