Quotes for the New Year

Monday, January 4th, 2010 by Dan Riggsby

I thought I’d start off the new year with some quotes to remind us of what this new year should be all about.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. -Thomas Jefferson

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. -John F. Kennedy

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. -Thomas Jefferson

Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves. – Ronald Reagan

.

Let us all take more responsibility, not only for ourselves and our families but for our communities and our country. -William J. Clinton

.

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. -Thomas Jefferson

.

Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them. -Ronald Reagan

A child miseducated is a child lost. -John F. Kennedy

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. -Ronald Reagan

A nation which has forgotten the quality of courage which in the past has been brought to public life is not as likely to insist upon or regard that quality in its chosen leaders today – and in fact we have forgotten. -John F. Kennedy

Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition. -Thomas Jefferson

How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin. -Ronald Reagan

A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living. Today’s military rejects include tomorrow’s hard-core unemployed. -John F. Kennedy

All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression. -Thomas Jefferson
Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. -John F. Kennedy

As our enemies have found we can reason like men, so now let us show them we can fight like men also. -Thomas Jefferson

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. -John F. Kennedy

Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper. -Thomas Jefferson

The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission. -John F. Kennedy

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government. -Thomas Jefferson

The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital… the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth in the economy. -John F. Kennedy

and finally…

If the present Congress errs in too much talking, how can it be otherwise in a body to which the people send one hundred and fifty lawyers, whose trade it is to question everything, yield nothing, and talk by the hour? -Thomas Jefferson

Let us band together to the purpose of making 2010 the year the American People set out to make the United States of America the country it was destined to be. Let us remove corruption from our government, expand our economy to allow for prosperity to embrace all citizens, and champion freedom for all, even those with whom we disagree.
Happy New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009 by Dan Riggsby
We are thankful

We are thankful

As we sit down to Thanksgiving dinner this year, we have a lot of reflection to do. May we be thankful to the men and women who sacrifice for our freedom and protection. Take the time today to thank a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine, police officer, firefighter or anyone that sacrifices for the rest of us.

We have many concerns that burden us this year. We have a bad economy, a socialist regime at the helm and the people we trusted to lead this country leading it right towards a cliff.

However, today is the day to be thankful for the good things in life, pray for our friends, family and country, and ask for guidance to lead us to prosperity. Remember we are celebrating the pioneering spirit that built this great nation and how that spirit carried the Pilgrims through some very tough times. We still have that spirit today and it will carry us through.

May everyone have a happy and rewarding Thanksgiving!

Democrats Don’t Want to Make the Same Mistake as Ahmadinejad

Saturday, August 29th, 2009 by Dan Riggsby

Apparently they don’t want people to use the internet, like the Iranian people did, to coordinate when they lock down the country. In the typical fashion of the Democratic Party, they will again attempt to control your speech. Why Americans think the Democratic Party is the party of free speech is beyond me.

The latest effort is the Cybersecurity Act of 2009. Here is an article that explains how the Democratic bill wants the President to have a “kill” switch for the Internet.

What is wrong with people? We still can’t import fine Cuban cigars because they are communist, but these idiots are doing there best to make Castro look like a libertarian,  and people are still supporting them! These guys are dangerous!

And Hollywood, the “Free Speech Mecca” of the country is supporting this nonsense. Someone buy these people a history book. Wake up, it’s starting. Let’s stop it at the polling booths before it gets worse.

Obama was spreading misinformation again? Whodathunkit!?!

Obama: Debunk thyself!

Obama: Debunk thyself!

Well, here we go. According to a CNN report (found here), Yes, illegals could be covered by the health care bills in the house. That conlusion was reached by the Congressional Research Service. So, as Obama goes around the country “debunking” “some of the more outrageous myths” about his health care plan, when is he going to start debunking himself?

Doctors Unimpressed with Obama Misinformaton

Thursday, August 27th, 2009 by Dan Riggsby

A reporter for the St. Augustine Record was able to sit in with a group of local doctors as they listened to the Obama sales pitch about health care.

There were three very interesting reactions.

1. They all laughed at the fact that he wants to reform Health Care without Tort reform. [That would mean he would have to give back all that money he got from the trial lawyers]

2. One of the doctors is from Canada. He is horrified by the Obama plan because he, from personal experience, sees the same things in the Obama plan that he dealt with in Canada. He says, “I’ve had individuals in my family who have lived in Canada, who are dead, who could have been treated for  a few dollars- could have been treated in the worst hospital in the United States by a third-year medical student and be alive today.”

3. One doctor speaks of Obama’s uninformed statements about unnecessary tonsillectomies overblown estimates of surgery costs, he doesn’t trust the President to lead health care reform. He asked “”When you have somebody so misinformed about tonsillectomies and amputation {reimbursements}, how can you trust what he says is true?,”

I think this is a good example of Obama and his health care.
