Who is the racist organization, NAACP or Tea Party?

The NAACP approved a resolution declaring the Tea Party Movement a Racist. That being said, I’d like to compare the Tea Party Movement to the NAACP.

A CBS poll showed that of those polled who identified themselves as Tea Party Supporters, 89% identified themselves as White and 8% identified themselves as non-white. I attempted to Contact the NAACP to discuss the demographics of their members, but the membership department was at the national convention and would not be returning calls for another week. So, I will simply ask the question, “Does the NAACP have more than 8% of it’s membership who is not colored?

Let’s look at the websites for both organizations:

The following is taken from the NAACP website under the Advocacy and Issues section. The sections are in bold.

Civic Engagement

From voter registration to census participation, the NAACP has been on the front lines of educating and training communities to become active and engaged in their communities and in civic life.

Climate Justice Initiative

Global climate change has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color in the United States and around the world. The NAACP Climate Justice Initiative was created to educate and mobilize communities to address this life or death issue.

Economic Opportunity

Fairness plays a role in any economy, and for that reason, we have developed a number of programs designed to elevate civil and human rights as they pertain to economic opportunity. As the nation recovers from the worst fiscal crisis in more than three decades, the NAACP will be there to ensure that this is done in a fair and just manner. Please take a moment to discover the program descriptions and resources available on this site. We will update this site with announcements, information, and materials as they become available.

NAACP Financial Freedom Campaign Center
The mission of the NAACP Financial Freedom Campaign Center is to facilitate the enhanced capacity of African Americans and other underserved groups to obtain affordable and competitively priced credit and financing, including mortgage loans, small business loans, and consumer loans. The Center will be designed to monitor lending practices to ensure fairness and to provide African Americans and other underserved groups with knowledge and information to effectively manage their personal finances and credit in today’s economic environment.

Education

The NAACP National Education Program strives to ensure that all students have access to an equal and high-quality public education by eliminating education-related racial and ethnic disparities in our public schools

Federal Advocacy

Since 1941 the NAACP has been the premier civil rights advocacy entity on Capitol Hill. The NAACP was a leading force behind the enactment of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the 1968 Fair Housing Act, the 1991 Civil Rights Restoration Act and the 2002 Help America Vote Act, the most current reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act among countless others.

Alerts

Here is a sample of the list of Alerts in order from the website Below the alert, some have an excerpt from the alert itself.

First: Both houses pass resolutions saluting NAACP on 101st birthday

Second: WHITE HOUSE ESTABLISHES CLAIMS FACILITY TO HELP SMALL BUSINESSES COPE WITH EFFECTS OF OIL SPILL

NEW PROGRAM IS CRUCIAL FIRST STEP TO HELP SMALL RACIAL AND ETHNIC MINORITY OWNED BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS

Third: NAACP SUPPORTS LEGISLATION TO HELP STATES REDUCE PRISON POPULATIONS

H.R. 4080, THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE REINVESTMENT ACT, WOULD HELP STATES DEVELOP INCARCERATION REDUCTION STRATEGIES AND REINVEST MONEY SAVED

The United States is the world’s leader in incarceration with 2.3 million people currently in the nation’s prisons or jails — a 500% increase over the past thirty years. These trends have resulted in prison overcrowding and state governments being overwhelmed by the burden of funding a rapidly expanding penal system, despite increasing evidence that large-scale incarceration is not the most effective means of achieving public safety. This over-reliance on incarceration has also had a disproportionately serious impact on communities of color: 57% of incarcerated inmates are racial or ethnic minorities and 88% of inmates are male. Specifically, as of mid-year 2009, whites represented 42.5% of all incarcerated inmates; African Americans, 39.2%; and Hispanics, 16.2%.

Health

The NAACP is committed to eliminating the racial and ethnic disparities in our health care system that plague people of color in the United States. African Americans continue to have the highest incidence, prevalence and mortality rates from chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. Additionally issues like HIV and infant mortality have continued to overwhelm the Black community. Systemic imbalances in the health care delivery system disproportionately affect African Americans and Latinas more than their White counterparts.

Justice

We Can Build a Better America Together

The United States is home to the world’s largest prison population. As “tough on crime” laws have put an unprecedented number of non-violent offenders behind bars in recent years, our neighborhoods feel no more secure.

The NAACP advocates for smarter, results-based criminal justice policies to keep our communities safe, including treatment for addiction and mental health problems, judicial discretion in sentencing, and an end to racial disparities at all levels of the system.

Litigation

Legal History: In 1909, the NAACP commenced what has become its legacy of fighting legal battles to win social justice for African-Americans and indeed, for all Americans

Media Diversity

The NAACP has fought against negative portrayals of people of color in film and television since “Birth of A Nation” in 1915.

Today the NAACP Hollywood Bureau is a satellite of the National office that deals with issues of diversity programming and minority employment in Hollywood, and oversees the production of the NAACP Image Awards.

Now, this is Mission Statement and Core Values listed on the Tea Party Patriots Site:

Tea Party Patriots Mission Statement and Core Values

Mission Statement

The impetus for the Tea Party movement is excessive government spending and taxation. Our mission is to attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets.

Core Values

Fiscal Responsibility

Constitutionally Limited Government

Free Markets

Fiscal Responsibility: Fiscal Responsibility by government honors and respects the freedom of the individual to spend the money that is the fruit of their own labor. A constitutionally limited government, designed to protect the blessings of liberty, must be fiscally responsible or it must subject its citizenry to high levels of taxation that unjustly restrict the liberty our Constitution was designed to protect. Such runaway deficit spending as we now see in Washington D.C. compels us to take action as the increasing national debt is a grave threat to our national sovereignty and the personal and economic liberty of future generations.

Constitutionally Limited Government: We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land. We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. Like the founders, we support states’ rights for those powers not expressly stated in the Constitution. As the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, in all other matters we support the personal liberty of the individual, within the rule of law.

Free Markets: A free market is the economic consequence of personal liberty. The founders believed that personal and economic freedom were indivisible, as do we. Our current government’s interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty. Therefore, we support a return to the free market principles on which this nation was founded and oppose government intervention into the operations of private business.

The NAACP does nothing but talk about race and encourage racial tension in this country while the Tea Party doesn’t even talk about race. In fact, the only time you hear about race and the Tea Party is when someone else is talking about it. I’ve been to Tea Party events. I’ve been the MC at a Tea Party rally. I have never seen a sign of racism. But every time I encounter the NAACP they are complaining about white people.

So, tell me, who is the racist organization?

For months now, the socialists have been screaming that the racists who oppose illegal immigration don’t really want to fix the problem because the best way to do it is to punish the evil capitalist employers exploiting illegals.

Arizona has passed a law to do…..just that. Have the people who have been crucifying Arizona run out in support of this measure? You guessed it. Nope.

In fact, Obama has, in fact, tasked the Justice Department with challenging the law.

Yet, we still have no comment from the Administration on California Penal Code 834b.

Does anyone else find it troubling that Obama and the Justice Department are spending more time attacking people in this country for enforcing the law, than they are looking for the people breaking the law?

It seems California already has a law like Arizona's. I guess they didn't think about that when they called for boycotts.

It seems that those in California calling for a boycott of Arizona are a bit hypocritical. You see, they have a very similar law on their books. It’s California Penal Code 834b and it says this,

.

.
834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is
suspected of being present in the United States in violation of
federal immigration laws.
 (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected
of being present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the
following:
 (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen
of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent
resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time
or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of
immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not
be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding
documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
 (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien
who is present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal
justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or
leave the United States.
 (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United
States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal
status and provide any additional information that may be requested
by any other public entity.
 (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city,
county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with
jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent
or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly
prohibited.

So it’s o.k. for California, but not for Arizona? Perhaps Kanye and the gang should get their facts straight before they go off yelling about boycotts.

Thanks to Kirk Adams for a wonderful article in the Washington Post that turned me on to this.

I thought I’d start off the new year with some quotes to remind us of what this new year should be all about.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. -Thomas Jefferson

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. -John F. Kennedy

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. -Thomas Jefferson

Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves. – Ronald Reagan

.

Let us all take more responsibility, not only for ourselves and our families but for our communities and our country. -William J. Clinton

.

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. -Thomas Jefferson

.
Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets. -Ronald Reagan
There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured with what is right in America. -William J. Clinton
Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them. -Ronald Reagan

A child miseducated is a child lost. -John F. Kennedy

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. -Ronald Reagan

A nation which has forgotten the quality of courage which in the past has been brought to public life is not as likely to insist upon or regard that quality in its chosen leaders today – and in fact we have forgotten. -John F. Kennedy

Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition. -Thomas Jefferson

How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin. -Ronald Reagan

A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living. Today’s military rejects include tomorrow’s hard-core unemployed. -John F. Kennedy

All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression. -Thomas Jefferson

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government. -Thomas Jefferson

The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital… the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth in the economy. -John F. Kennedy

and finally…

If the present Congress errs in too much talking, how can it be otherwise in a body to which the people send one hundred and fifty lawyers, whose trade it is to question everything, yield nothing, and talk by the hour? -Thomas Jefferson

Let us band together to the purpose of making 2010 the year the American People set out to make the United States of America the country it was destined to be. Let us remove corruption from our government, expand our economy to allow for prosperity to embrace all citizens, and champion freedom for all, even those with whom we disagree.
Happy New Year!

As we sit down to Thanksgiving dinner this year, we have a lot of reflection to do. May we be thankful to the men and women who sacrifice for our freedom and protection. Take the time today to thank a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine, police officer, firefighter or anyone that sacrifices for the rest of us.

We have many concerns that burden us this year. We have a bad economy, a socialist regime at the helm and the people we trusted to lead this country leading it right towards a cliff.

However, today is the day to be thankful for the good things in life, pray for our friends, family and country, and ask for guidance to lead us to prosperity. Remember we are celebrating the pioneering spirit that built this great nation and how that spirit carried the Pilgrims through some very tough times. We still have that spirit today and it will carry us through.

May everyone have a happy and rewarding Thanksgiving!
